Our health visitors are specially-qualified nurses, based at Littlemoor clinic. They provide information, advice and support to families, and co-ordinate child development checks. They hold baby clinics every Wednesday morning at Westham Children's Centre, Radipole Lane and on the first Tuesday afternoon of each month  at Chickerell; no appointment is necessary. They also work closely with the midwives and provide antenatal support and parentcraft classes. The health visitors' clerk, is available two mornings per week to assist the health visitors and deal with telephone enquiries.

Midwives

We operate a shared care system between the GPs and the midwives at Dorset County Hospital. Antenatal clinics are held once a week on Friday mornings at Chickerell Surgery, and Westham Sure Start Children's Centre, Radipole Lane, for Abbotsbury Road patients, where you will be offered, in addition to antenatal checks, support and advice concerning all aspects of pregnancy, labour and postnatal care. There is no need to see a GP if you are pregnant - self-referral packs are available from Reception.
